If I seem distant, it's because I find peace in being alone. Life presents each one of us with trials, tribulations, and triumphs that help to make us who we are, guide us down the path we must take. Each human being has been given a wonderful gift - the right to choose his or her own path in life. This gift has been bestowed on us by a being greater than ourselves, and, yet, we have been so graciously created in that being's image. In choosing that path we show that indeed we are blessed in that we have been created to reflect this godly image. Our deeds make us true brave hearts as each one of us takes on the challenges that may lie within that path of life we each have chosen. On occasion we may falter, nonetheless we strive to gain back that momentum to our chosen path. Our willful passion for life and happiness keeps each one of us looking for that bright horizon, that brand new day.

As we look in a mirror and see our own reflection, do we see that godly image we have so graciously been created from? Can each one of us truly say that we have led a life reverent of this image? Indeed not, we are free souls given the most unalienable right since birth, the right to choose our life as we delight. So then why is there no conviction within the self to remain in this delight? The elixir of life should be enough to sustain us in the realm of happiness, but it has not. We are downtrodden by the very same trials and tribulations that should make us stronger. Trials and tribulations that when we slumber should be washed away with our dreams. In our dream state we are given another world to live in. Another world where we can influence the outcome of these same trials and tribulations we are faced with to make them triumphs in the world we wake up to.

In this reality we can now become true to the image we were created from so as not to be held in contempt of the lives we choose to live.

Write my paper on A Letter to a Friend for me

My goal is to teach children how to write a story. I want to inspire the little spark from within to become a fire that cannot be put out once the fingers touch the keyboard or the pen or pencil hits a sheet of paper. When I am in a classroom, I close my eyes and listen to the scratch, scratch, scratch of a pencil writing against a white sheet of paper.

Billy lives on a farm in the Ozark Mountains of Oklahoma. He wants two good coonhounds so badly but his Papa can't afford to buy them for him. It is the Depression and many families are poor. Billy and his sisters don't even go to school. Billy knows that if he wants these dogs, he must find a way to get them himself. He finds a magazine. An ad says that a kennel is selling coonhound puppies for $5.00 each. Billy is determined that these are the dogs he wants. He decides to save money by selling bait to fishermen and picking berries and skinning hides for his Grandpa's store. He puts the twenty-three cents he already has into an old K.C. Baking Powder can. He works really hard and saves every penny he makes. It takes him two years of working and saving and he finally has the fifty dollars that he needs. Billy tells his Grandpa about his savings. Grandpa is very proud of him. He promises to order the dogs for him. He gives him a big helping of candy from his store. Billy takes the candy home and shares it with his three sisters.

After two weeks, Grandpa tells Billy that his dogs are in but they are miles away in the town of Talhquah. It will take two more weeks for the dogs to get to him. Billy can't wait. He sneaks off in the middle of the night to go to town and pick up his dogs. He walks all the way. When he gets to the Post Office, he picks up his pups and can't believe that they belong to him. He puts them in his gunny sack and starts to go into town. The pups cost $45.00, saving Billy $5.00. He decides to spend the money on gifts for his family.

When Billy is in town, he sees a lot of children playing in a playground. There is a big building near the playground. It is a school. It's the first time Billy has ever seen a school. The kids look at this "hillbilly" and start pointing and laughing at him. Billy feels very bad. A bell rings and all the kids go into the school. Billy plays in the playground for a while. Then he goes into a store and buys gifts for his family. He starts his journey home, and some kids start pulling on his gunny sack, and the pups are very scared. He already loves his pups and no one is going to hurt them. He starts defending his pups and the kids beat him up. A Marshall shows up, breaks up the fight and gives Billy his first soda pop to cheer him up.

Definition of corrosion

Corrosion is the oxidation of metals by certain substances (mostly water and oxygen) in the environment. A metal corrodes when it gives up its electrons and loses strength and elasticity. Some common examples of corrosion include rusting of iron, surface oxidation of aluminium, tarnishing of silver and verdigris on copper. Corrosion can be classified into two categories

• Dry corrosion where the metal is oxidised directly by atmospheric oxygen.

• Wet corrosion is when the presence of water and air accelerates the process of corrosion.

The condition which rusting of irons occurs

For iron and for any other metal, any region of electrochemical corrosion must have

a) an anode where oxidation occurs

b) a cathode where reduction occurs

c) a meta path for electron and

d) an electrolyte.

The rusting of iron will be hastened by the following conditions

1. The presence of oxygen is large concentrations at the surface of iron which will accelerate the corrosion of another area with less oxygen if there is electrical contact between them. This helps to explain why corrosion pits in iron can be very deep. Since the bottom of the pit has less oxygen than the top, it will act as an anode and corrosion in the pit will be accelerated.

. Pure iron is more resistant to corrosion than impure iron. Electrochemical cells can occur if, for example, copper is present. Copper can serve as a cathode half-cell since its atoms are less readily oxidised than iron atoms. The electrons travel through the iron and the ions through a moisture film to complete the circuit.

. Iron corrodes more readily where ions in the metal lattice have been distorted by stress.

Corrosion prevention

There are two basic ways of protecting metal surfaces from corrosion physical protection and galvanic protection.

• Physical protection eg. Paint and lacquer. The paint and acquer acts as a physical barrier which stops oxygen and water from making contact with the metal.

• Galvanic protection eg Cathodic protection. Ther are two main types of cathodic protection presently in use.

1. Sacrificial anode. Steel pipes, tanks ans ships are protected

galvanically by attaching lumps of magnesium or zinc to the

steel. The more active metal is more readily oxidised and

behaes as a sacrificial anode, whilst the steel is cathodically

protected.

. Impressed current. Metals such as iron can be connected to

the negative pole of a power source such as a battery.

Electrons are pushed onto the iron which is then cathodically

Protected. Please note that this sample paper on Corrosion is for your review only. A Hero Of Our Time

A Hero Of Our Time, by Mikhail Lermontov contains four stories about an interesting character named Pechorin. Pechorin's adventures bring out the many different characteristics he contains. One of Pechorin's characteristics that stands out in my mind is his selfish attitude towards women. The story of Bela and Princess Mary, are the two main stories that deal with Pechorin's encounters with women. In the first story "Bela," Pechorin seems to think that Bela is a prize to be won. In the second story "Princess Mary," Pechorin leads two women to believe he loves them. Through these two narratives Pechorin is seen as an insincere and selfish person. However, there are a few exceptions in which he seems to be real in his feelings towards the women.

The impression I get from the story of Bela and Princess Mary is that Pechorin believes getting women to fall in love with him is a game, which he always has to win. Pechorin stops at nothing. He designs a plan to make Bela fall for him, once his plan works he gets bored with Bela causing her great pain. Later when Pechorin decides he has feelings for her again it is too late because she dies. In Princess Mary, Pechorin loves a woman named Vera claiming that she is the only woman who has ever been able to understand him. In order for Pechorin and Vera to be accepted Princess Mary must like him. In doing so I think Pechorin takes it too far. I don't think it was necessary for him to lead Princess Mary on as much as he did. Pechorin only had to become friends with Princess Mary to be accepted. He didn't need to lead Princess Mary to believe that he loved her. Pechorin is a very selfish person, and only thinks of himself. He plays with the women's emotions and doesn't think twice about the heartache he causes them. Pechorin's attitude towards the women makes me believe he wants what he can't have and needs to make sure he can win their love. Once Pechorin gets what he wants he becomes uninterested and shows no more interest towards them. At one point in the book Pechorin even admits to his thoughtless actions. Pechorin asks if evil can really be that attractive. This tells me that Pechorin knows what he is doing in the way he treats the women. I think admitting to being Evil makes the situations even worse. This means Pechorin continues acting the way he does being conscious of his actions.

Pechorin's attitude is one that many people today share. There are many selfish people in this world who only care about themselves, forgetting about others feelings. In today's world people will go to any extent just to get what they want, knocking over anything that may get in their way. Pechorin's character is one that you are able to identify and possibly even relate to in yourself or other people today.

Chaucer's Prologue

Chaucer presents a very positive picture of the pilgrims in the ruling class. Chaucer only shows respect to one religious figure and looks down upon the other five. Chaucer includes good qualities in knights and squires that he describes.

Qualities Chaucer includes in his Knights are honor, loyalty, respect, chivalry, generosity and courtesy. One page , Chaucer says "There was among us a brave Knight, who had loved chivalry, truth, and honor, generosity and courtesy from the time of his first horse back rides." Qualities in the squire were that of love, lust, strength, and happiness. Chaucer explains "All day he sang or played the flute; in fact, he was as joyful as the month of May", on page .

Cheap college papers on Chaucer's "THe Canterbury Tales" Prologue

Chaucer's view of the clergy class is not as positive as his view of the ruling class. The only religious figure presently positively is the Parson. Page 11 reads "Rich in holy thoughts and works, he was a learned man, a cleric, who wished to preach Christ's gospel truly and teach parishioners devoutly. He was benign, wonderfully intelligent, extremely patient..."

Chaucer's religious ideal is expressed through the parson. Chaucer described the Prioress as "Very much interested in etiquette. She was so kind and full of pity that she would week if she saw a dead or bleeding mouse." The monk loved hunting. He did not believe in learning, and spent more time hunting. The friar was described as "a licensed beggar, and a very gay man. He found husbands for many young women at his own expense. Well lived and intimate, and had more power than the parish priest, courteous and humbly helpful." The pardoner was amiable, "in his bag had a pillowcase which had served as a veil for our Lady; He has no beard, feigned with flattery and tricks…made monkeys of the parson and people" on page 15. The summoner was a friendly person. He controlled all young people of the diocese in his own way. He spoke only Latin, and knew philosophy well.

In conclusion, Chaucer presents a very positive picture of the pilgrims in the ruling class, and Chaucer's religious ideal is expressed through the parson. Reading Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales" can help many students and people everywhere learn more about life during the Middle Ages. Chaucer's prologue is especially helpful because it introduces all the characters in an organized manor. Please note that this sample paper on Chaucer's "THe Canterbury Tales" Prologue is for your review only. This part of The Wars focuses on the life of the military officers of World War One. It brought out the fact that people from different backgrounds were drawn together for a common cause. Looking back at history, we know that the military in WWI was made up of a few groups of people. The ones who were military personnel previous to WWI, the ones who joined the army due to their patriotic feelings, and the ones who were conscripted into the war. The protagonist, nineteen-year-old Robert Ross, volunteered to join the war, the first one he has ever experienced. Even though he bears the rank of a senior officer that has a batman, he is a rookie at war. He is very innocent; he has never shot another living creature in his life. On the ship coming to war, his first challenged emerged. He had to shoot an injured horse. Given he was an animal lover, killing the horse was truly difficult. But he is a soldier with obligations above all else to the armed forces, and thus carries his task out against his personal wishes.

In this part, there were mainly eight characters. In which, each of them differs from one another. The author uses these eight people to show the diversity of those within the war. Some do things by the book, several carry positive dreams for post-war life style, and others despite their situation keep a pet. Further, a number are scared and believe they were not meant to be in the war.

The first transcript (pp. 101 to 108) about Lady Juliet was really difficult for me. I had to reread and reread it. At first I did not understand why it was placed in the book. However, later I realized that she was one of the people whom remembers about Robert and is willing to talk about him. Due to the fact that she is deeply involved in the story of Robert, Findley probably used her as a bridge for readers to further understand Robert. Moreover, Lady Juliet also gives us the flavor of time. In other words, she is used as a tool to inform readers the point of view of the society at that time.

Up to this point in the book, Findley's writing disgusts me. That is, I disagree with is beliefs and morals. On pages 111 to 112, he indirectly expresses how when boys become very good friends, they can be "in love". On page 112, Findley uses Barbara to explore how women "went through a lot of men and didn't get back to….." This quote gives a reader the impression of how having more than one life-partner is tolerable. I oppose these two beliefs. I do not like how he always talks about homosexuality. In addition, I do not believe it is acceptable to have more than one partner in life.
